Originally, the melody was once a battle song during the Suez War in 1956. When Gaddafi transformed Libya from kingdom to republic, he also used this anthem as a Egyptian marching song. However in 1979, the relations with Egypt broke off. Which retained the marching song. During the Libyan Civil War in 2011, the rebels won the war. Which abolished and replace to the current anthem what we known today. An former national anthem of Libya (1969-2011).
