This anthem was de facto adopted in 1991, and officially adopted in 1992. However, the Ukrainian anthem was adopted earlier than that. In 1917, the Ukrainian People's Republic used this anthem until 1921. Many years later, Ukraine succeeded from the Soviet Union.
